Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - According to Saxony-Anhalt's Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD), the federal states cannot assume the future costs of three euros per rapid corona test. The state ministry is currently in the process of examining the draft by Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) for the new test regulation from June 30, a spokeswoman said on Saturday for the German Press Agency in Magdeburg.
"We welcome the fact that the federal government continues to bear the test costs for vulnerable groups, children up to five years of age, visitors to clinics and nursing homes and household members of infected people. That was very important to me," said Grimm-Benne on Saturday.
"Unrestricted free tests are no longer indicated in the current phase of the pandemic. The design of the test regulation is the responsibility of the federal government. The federal states had made it clear that they could not bear the costs for the citizen tests." The so-called citizen tests should cost three euros in the future. The federal government had agreed on this on Friday. The federal states would have the option of taking over the own contribution of three euros for other groups outside of the vulnerable groups considered.
