Saxony-Anhalt: More and more people with mini-jobs in the commercial sector

Bochum (dpa/sa) - The number of people with a mini-job in the commercial sector continued to rise in the past year. In private households, on the other hand, mini-jobs have become rarer, as the mini-job center in Bochum announced on Tuesday. According to this, the commercial mini-jobbers in Saxony-Anhalt increased by 2,495 or 2.9 percent to 87,386 by the end of September compared to the same month of the previous year. Nationwide, however, the increase was even clearer, with an increase of 4.1 percent to almost 6.5 million.

In the private sector, however, the number of mini-jobbers fell by 122 or 4.7 percent to 2,460. Nationwide, 266,509 people were employed there with mini jobs. That represented a decrease of 15,017 or 5.3 percent.

Mini-jobbers are marginally paid employees. In the commercial sector, the average monthly income in 2021 was 324.19 euros per month. In private households, the average income was 198.15 euros. Almost 40 percent of mini-jobbers in the commercial sector received an average monthly salary of 400 to 450 euros. Around half of the mini-jobbers (48.1 percent) earn up to 150 euros in private households.

According to the mini job center, more and more Ukrainian citizens have found their way onto the German labor market with a mini job. In September 2022, more than 30,000 worked in mini-jobs. About three quarters of them are women, it said.
