Apenburg/Stendal (dpa/sa) - A total of more than 200 firefighters have been on duty since Friday evening in a major fire on a company premises in Apenburg (Altmarkkreis Salzwedel). This was announced by the integrated control center Altmark on Saturday on request. Residual extinguishing work is currently still taking place. The control center assumes that this will continue for several hours.
The more than 200 emergency services from different fire brigades were not all on site at the same time, but would replace each other, the control center said. The cause of the fire is so far unclear. The company processes plastics. According to several media reports, the smoke could be seen in the surrounding counties.
