Saxony-Anhalt: More young lawyers and a little more honors exams

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, 112 women and men passed the second state examination in law this year and thus completed their legal training. That is 22 more than in the previous year, as the Ministry of Justice announced on Wednesday in Magdeburg. 21.4 percent (2021: 18.9 percent) passed an exam with honors with the grades "completely satisfactory", "good" or "very good". Around 16 percent of the candidates would not have passed the second state legal examination.

"The Saxony-Anhalt judiciary is submitting an offer of employment to all suitable fully qualified lawyers," explained Justice Minister Franziska Weidinger (CDU). Judges, public prosecutors, trainee notaries and administrative lawyers would be needed. "For the courts and public prosecutor's offices in Saxony-Anhalt alone, at least 40 lawyers are to be hired every year," said Weidinger, who received young lawyers in the ministry.
