Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Three new boats from the water police have been delivered, some with significant defects. The boats should actually be manufactured as semi-gliders and reach a top speed of about 40 kilometers per hour, it said in a response from the Ministry of the Interior to a request from the Greens in the state parliament. After the first test runs, it turned out that the shape of the hull did not achieve semi-planing properties and the boat was four kilometers per hour slower. After a corresponding price reduction, this was accepted by the Ministry. The "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" reported first.
The boats also had defects that went beyond the usual level, the answer said. Water entered all boats, cooling water escaped and the navigation software also showed errors. However, according to the ministry, the manufacturer made improvements accordingly. The boats went into operation in March 2021 and cost the country 2.6 million euros, according to the company.
