Saxony-Anhalt: New signage at Schierker Loipen

Wernigerode (dpa/sa) - The Schierker trails are getting new, expanded signage. "Compared to the old signage, the trail signs contain a range of additional information such as the distance to the destination, the difficulty of the trail or information about dangers," explained the President of the Saxony-Anhalt Ski Association, Rüdiger Ganske, on Thursday. The identification of the location of the board, which is GPS-supported and recorded in a trail map, is essential. This enables the mountain rescue service to quickly locate skiers in the event of an accident.

The signage is to be attached to the Schierker Loipen and the Renneckenbergloipe at the beginning of 2023, and work started shortly before Christmas. The Harz National Park and the Schierke building yard are involved. According to the information, the Schierker trails have been operated for years through a cooperation between the Association for the Promotion of Skiing and Nature Conservation in the Harz Mountains, the City of Wernigerode and the Harz National Park.
