Halle (dpa/sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt not even every second child is born in marriage. Only 43.3 percent (6943) were born within a marriage in the previous year - the lowest proportion in a national comparison, said the State Statistical Office in Halle on Thursday. Across Germany, 67.2 percent of all children were born in marriage last year, with the highest proportions in Baden-Württemberg at 76.2 percent and Bavaria at 73.3 percent. According to statistics, 1994 saw the nation's highest proportion of married births at 56.6 percent and 2012's lowest ever rate at 35 percent.
