Halle (dpa/sa) - The number of motor vehicles registered in Saxony-Anhalt increased by 7,750 by January 1, 2022 compared to the previous year. A good 1.5 million vehicles were registered as of the reporting date - an increase of 0.5 percent compared to January 1, 2021, the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday in Halle. Cars were the front-runners with 1.22 million registered vehicles, followed by a good 116,000 trucks. Motorbikes took third place, of which just over 103,000 were registered in Saxony-Anhalt.
Vehicles with combustion engines continued to dominate cars. E-cars had the strongest growth with an increase of 112 percent compared to the previous year, but a total of only 7171 passenger cars with electric drives were registered. The total number of hybrid drivers was around 35,000.
