Saxony-Anhalt: Olaf Scholz in conversation with science and citizens

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is expected in Magdeburg on Thursday. In the afternoon (4 p.m.) he visits the research campus of Otto von Guericke University. Scholz will talk to the university management, scientists and students about research and securing skilled workers, the university announced in advance. Another topic will be the settlement of the US chip manufacturer Intel in Magdeburg. Intel wants to start building the two semiconductor factories in Magdeburg next year and invest around 17 billion euros.

In the evening (6.00 p.m.) the Federal Chancellor will talk to the citizens of Saxony-Anhalt. The so-called Chancellor Talks is the second citizens' dialogue. For 90 minutes, Scholz answered questions from around 150 people who had previously applied to take part. The series, which is to run through all federal states, started on July 11 in Lübeck.
