Halle (dpa/sa) - How high is the concentration of fine dust on the Brocken? This will be measured over the next three months by a measuring vehicle from the air quality monitoring system in Saxony-Anhalt (LÜSA), as the State Office for Environmental Protection in Halle announced on Thursday. There has been a small measuring station on the summit for many years, but it cannot document any fine dust concentrations. This is not possible all year round due to the weather. In order to close the data gap, the values should be recorded at least in the summer months.
The measuring vehicle is not on the Brocken summit for the first time. This year, improved measurement methods for particulate matter and a longer service life should ensure sufficiently reliable data. The special measurement will end at the end of September, it was said.
