Saxony-Anhalt: Prime Minister Haseloff defends Corona course

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) has defended the expiry of the Corona rules in several countries. The CDU politician made it clear that measures could be taken quickly in the event of another wave of corona disease. "We will see how the corona virus develops. If the situation changes and new mutations occur, you can react at short notice. But in principle it is right that the regulations in the countries expire," said Haseloff of the German Press Agency in Magdeburg.

In Saxony-Anhalt, the mask requirement on local buses and trains was dropped at the beginning of December. It was the first federal state to waive the rule. Since then, people have been able to decide for themselves whether to wear mouth and nose protection or not. Mouth and nose protection must continue to be worn in long-distance public transport, which is regulated by the Federal Infection Protection Act. It also mandates that FFP2 masks must be worn in clinics, nursing homes, doctor's offices and other healthcare facilities.
