Saxony-Anhalt: Regional structures for economic development

Halberstadt (dpa/sa) - Agriculture Minister Sven Schulze (CDU) has emphasized the importance of regional production and marketing structures for the economic development of Saxony-Anhalt. "Only with a high degree of regional added value can we make life in rural areas attractive. We will continue to work on that," he said on Sunday, according to a statement on the occasion of his visit to the 23rd Harz Agricultural Festival in Halberstadt. Schulze informed himself at the industry show with more than 40 exhibitors together with Halberstadt's Mayor Daniel Szarata (CDU) about regional products and modern agricultural technology.

In addition, Schulze reportedly attended the awards ceremony for the winning animals as part of the fifth federal show "Rotes Höhenvieh". The Harzer Roten Höhenvieh is a breed that is threatened with extinction, but there are now individual large herds again in Germany's northernmost low mountain range. This robust breed is also at home in other regions of Germany.

The Harz Agricultural Festival is organized by the Agricultural Marketing Society of Saxony-Anhalt.
