Saxony-Anhalt: RKI: Incidence in Saxony-Anhalt under 200

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The registered corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt is now below the 200 mark. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Tuesday as 190.4 - after 297.4 last Tuesday. Nationwide, the incidence on Tuesday was 307.2 according to the RKI.

However, experts assume that many corona cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health authorities report their data on a daily basis, especially at the weekend and at the beginning of the week there can be a delay.

Within Saxony-Anhalt, the RKI reported the highest seven-day incidence for the city of Halle at 228.7 on Tuesday. The district of Wittenberg, on the other hand, recorded the lowest value in the country (127.2). Across the country, 764 new Covid-19 cases were reported, along with 3 more deaths related to the virus. According to the RKI, 5,338 people in Saxony-Anhalt have died with or from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
