Saxony-Anhalt: Saxony-Anhalt constantly play the lottery: millionaire wanted

There were three lottery millionaires in Saxony-Anhalt this year. Many players are hoping for a big win. Apparently one hasn't noticed his win yet.

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt played the lottery constantly in 2022. In the first eleven months of this year, the stakes remained almost stable, as announced by Lotto-Toto GmbH Sachsen-Anhalt in Magdeburg. By the end of November, the stakes would have totaled 189 million euros. Lotto-Toto expects the €200 million mark in annual stakes to be broken for the third time in a row by the end of the year.

"This is remarkable, since the number of lottery sales outlets has fallen by 20 to 650 this year," said Lotto Managing Director Stefan Ebert. "Especially for smaller sales outlets whose owners have reached retirement age, it was difficult or impossible to find successors." Around 80 percent of stakes went through the sales outlets.

Meanwhile, Lotto-Toto Sachsen-Anhalt is still looking for a millionaire. The winner from the Mansfeld-Hettstedt region has until December 31, 11:59 p.m. to register. Then the three-year period that every player has to collect the prize has expired. The lottery ticket with twelve picks in Lotto 6aus49, Spiel 77 and Super 6 was bought on November 28, 2019 in a Lotto sales outlet in the Mansfeld-Hettstedt area for 32.10 euros.

On December 7, the player took the receipt to a sales outlet and picked up two prizes totaling EUR 17.30. He received a replacement ticket receipt, which he should keep for the upcoming St. Nicholas special draw. The player won one million euros - possibly unnoticed until now. "It is the first time in the history of Lotto Sachsen-Anhalt that a million prize has not yet been requested after almost three years," it said.

From January to the end of November this year, 670 women and men in Saxony-Anhalt raked in lottery prizes of at least 5,000 euros. There were three million prizes: In August, a woman from Dessau-Roßlau won around 2.3 million euros in the Lotto 6aus49, in October around 3.7 million euros also went to a man from the Saalekreis in the Lotto 6aus49, and in November there were in the district of Stendal won 1.01 million euros in the bingo environmental lottery.

The state-owned company Lotto-Toto GmbH Sachsen-Anhalt has now been in existence for 30 years. From the end of September 1991 to the present day, people in Saxony-Anhalt have spent a total of around five billion euros on lottery products - from the classic 6 out of 49 ticket with a cross to scratch cards. The general public also benefited from this, because almost two billion euros went to the state treasury and the common good in the form of many small associations. Sports clubs are supported with lottery funds as well as projects of small museums or cultural events.

For every euro spent on a lottery product, around 20 cents go to the common good and a further 20 cents go to the state budget as lottery and sports betting tax. According to Lotto-Toto Sachsen-Anhalt, by December 1, 2022, that was a total of around 1.94 billion euros. In the first eleven months of the current year, this amount was over 70 million euros.
