Saxony-Anhalt: Saxony-Anhalt is looking for teachers: find headhunters 75

There is a shortage of teachers at many schools in Saxony-Anhalt. The country is pulling more and more registers in the search. You open yourself even more to side entrants, pay bonuses for positions that are difficult to fill and use headhunters.

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt is looking for almost 1000 new teachers. With the call for applications, the state is opening up for the first time to lateral entrants with a bachelor's degree from which a subject cannot be directly derived, as the Ministry of Education announced on Monday in Magdeburg. After a year of probation, these side entrants should be given the prospect of permanent employment. A total of 992 positions are advertised, including 348 at secondary schools, 175 at primary schools and 164 at high schools, 93 at special needs schools and 50 at vocational schools. The application period ends on October 3rd.

The country pays an allowance for 176 of the advertised positions. In this way, potential candidates for positions that are difficult to fill are to receive an additional incentive to apply. Like other federal states, Saxony-Anhalt has a serious shortage of teachers. According to the Ministry of Education, the so-called teaching coverage is currently 92 percent - and thus lower than ever before.

So far, Saxony-Anhalt has been able to recruit 75 teachers via so-called headhunters. A spokesman for the Ministry of Education said they had been found during a Europe-wide search since last year. The budget for the commissioned agencies was 750,000 euros. The spokesman said the search would be expanded in the near future. Then teachers could probably be recruited worldwide.

"In the current situation, we must leave no stone unturned to find well-trained teachers for our schools," said Education Minister Eva Feußner (CDU) of the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung", which first reported on the new figures. The headhunters only incur costs once the teachers have signed their contracts. The candidates must prove that they have sufficient knowledge of German, otherwise, according to the information, the same requirements apply as for all applicants.
