Saxony-Anhalt: Saxony-Anhalt: Stadtwerke demand support from the federal government

Bitterfeld-Wolfen (dpa/sa) - Several municipal utilities from Saxony-Anhalt have sent an open letter to Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) and demanded quick help from the federal government. According to the letter published on Friday, there are no clear prospects for a way out of the energy crisis and there are concerns about social peace in the communities. "That's why what we need immediately, above all, is speed, constant political support and a secure financing framework so that we can overcome the energy crisis in our communities."

Nine municipal utilities signed the letter: Aschersleben, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Bernburg, Eisleben, Sangerhausen, Hettstedt, Stassfurt, Wernigerode and Quedlinburg. You see yourself as a player in a renewable, decentralized and intelligently networked energy system throughout Germany. "We are therefore now calling on the federal government to set reliable energy policy guidelines for municipal energy concepts and to provide effective financing instruments for the rapid strengthening of sustainability in municipal energy supply."
