Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - In the dispute over the financing of free schools, the Association of German Private Schools in Saxony-Anhalt has called on the state to act. The additional costs would have to be taken into account in the 2023 budget, said managing director Jürgen Banse on Monday.
In September, the Higher Administrative Court of Saxony-Anhalt ruled that the state had paid too few grants to private schools and had to make improvements. The state school board has to recalculate the grants based on the judgement. The court did not name the amount.
The state is responsible for implementation, said the Association of German Private Schools in Saxony-Anhalt on Monday. "If the state wants to prevent further court costs arising for subsequent school years, it must now act quickly and transparently," said Banse.
The Ministry of Education announced a few months ago that it was not yet clear how much more expensive it would be for the country. The written reasons for the judgment should first be awaited.
According to the constitution of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, the so-called substitute schools are entitled to public subsidies in order to be able to fulfill their tasks. You will not be fully reimbursed for the costs. The grants are based on the expenses for comparable public schools.
In Saxony-Anhalt, a good ten percent of pupils at general education schools are independently sponsored. The trend has been increasing in recent years.
