Halle (dpa/sa) - A serious accident with several injuries occurred on the A14 near Halle on Thursday. Two cars and two vans were involved in the accident between the Trotha and Tornau junctions, the police said. Further details on the course of events could not be given. The police initially spoke of more than ten injuries. No information was initially given as to whether there were any deaths.
A police spokeswoman said several people were trapped in their vehicles. Numerous emergency services and rescue helicopters are in use, it said. The Autobahn towards Dresden was completely blocked.
The "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung" reported three dead and 18 injured. A small van with a football team was also involved in the accident. According to the report, a fire brigade vehicle collided with a car on the way to the accident site at Riebeckplatz in Halle and overturned.
