Wernigerode (dpa/sa) - In the highest areas of the Harz mountains, hurricane gusts must be expected on Monday night. The German Weather Service (DWD) issued a severe weather warning for locations over 1000 meters on Sunday. The Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains, is 1141 meters high. The DWD explained that trees could be uprooted, branches or objects could fall. People should avoid being outdoors as much as possible. The severe weather warning is valid from Sunday 11 p.m. to Monday 9 a.m.
