Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - If you want to have a certificate of inheritance issued, you may have to wait a long time in Saxony-Anhalt. At the district courts of Köthen and Wittenberg, appointments for an application could no longer be given this year, according to a response from the state government to a small question from Green MP Sebastian Striegel. For many other probate courts, the waiting time for an appointment was given as a few weeks. In Burg, Magdeburg and Zerbst it is not mandatory to make an appointment, so according to the overview there are no waiting times there.
The reply also said that the duration of the procedure until the certificate of inheritance was issued was not statistically recorded. It depends on the circumstances of the individual case. If the legal succession has occurred, a certificate of inheritance can be issued within a few days or in individual cases immediately if all proof of inheritance law and necessary declarations are available and all co-heirs submit the application. In other cases, the court must hear the persons who are considered heirs according to the will and the legal heirs. From the point of view of the state government, there are no options for generally shortening the duration of the procedure.
