Saxony-Anhalt: SPD MP Kröber criticizes the end of the mask requirement

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The Magdeburg SPD member of the Bundestag Martin Kröber has criticized the abolition of the mask requirement in Saxony-Anhalt's public transport. "Abolishing the mask requirement in the current situation is populist," said Kröber on Tuesday. "We already have a massive sick leave in public transport. This decision will mean that there will be even fewer buses and trains at Christmas."

As a result, many people would find it harder to visit their families at Christmas. That is foreseeable. "Just because the masks are unpopular with large parts of the population does not make the abolition the right political decision."

The cabinet had previously decided that the mask requirement in local public transport would end on December 8, according to government circles. The country is thus relying on more personal responsibility.
