Saxony-Anhalt: State wants more speed in mobile communications expansion

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - With changes to the state building regulations and the road law, the state government wants to facilitate the expansion of the mobile and 5G network in Saxony-Anhalt. The government discussed a corresponding draft law on Tuesday. Infrastructure Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP) explained that it was necessary to increase the pace of expansion. With the new law, which still has to go through the state parliament, the state can support the expansion of mobile communications with faster and simpler approval procedures.

"The fact is: Attractive living spaces only work with well-developed infrastructure," said Hüskens. "We are working flat out to create such attractive structures everywhere in Saxony-Anhalt, so that people are happy to be at home here and the economy has attractive framework conditions for further growth." Among other things, the draft law provides for the abolition of outdoor space for smaller masts and antenna systems.
