Saxony-Anhalt: State wants to simplify regulations for solar systems

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Saxony-Anhalt wants to facilitate the installation of solar systems on listed buildings. A corresponding decree to the monument protection authorities is currently being prepared by the state government, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Culture on Saturday. Cultural monuments should always be opened up for solar systems.

"We expect a significantly higher number of permits for solar systems on monuments," said Minister of State Rainer Robra (CDU). Nevertheless, it will still be a case-by-case decision. Anyone wishing to attach such a system to or on a cultural monument therefore needs a monument protection permit from the lower monument protection authorities in the districts and urban districts.

According to the ministry spokesman, the first guidelines of the decree have already been established. In the future, permits should therefore be issued regularly for architectural monuments and monument areas. Only in the case of a "significant impairment of a cultural monument is refrained from," said the spokesman. Unesco world heritage sites are exempt from the regulation, since international legal obligations prevail here.
