Saxony-Anhalt: Strawberry thieves caught in the act

Ströbeck (dpa/sa) - Five young suspected strawberry thieves were caught in Ströbeck (Harz district) with a total of 22 kilos of the red fruit. They were asked by the police shortly after midnight on the basis of a witness reference, as they announced. The 16-year-old girl and four men in their early 20s were stopped by the officers in their car. They had apparently stolen the strawberries from the sales stand in a self-picking field between Halberstadt and Ströbeck. A case of theft is pending. The strawberries were returned to their owner by the police.
