Arneburg (dpa/sa) - For the third day in a row, the fire burns on the site of the Arneburg pulp mill (Stendal district). It is still not clear when the fire will be extinguished, according to the Altmark rescue control center on Sunday morning. Forces are constantly being exchanged. There are around 100 firefighters with numerous vehicles there. So far, the planning went until Sunday 6 p.m. The fire on Friday morning is believed to have been caused by a lightning strike. Two conveyor belts caught flames that spread to a pile of wood chips below. According to initial estimates, the property damage is between two and three million euros.
