Saxony-Anhalt: The number of clubs in Saxony-Anhalt is increasing

Berlin (dpa/sa) - The number of clubs is increasing in Saxony-Anhalt. This is the result of a study by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. An increase of 4.3 percent can be observed between 2012 and 2022. While 19,154 clubs were registered in the state in 2019, three years later, according to the Stifterverband, there are 109 more.

According to the study, the number of clubs also increased nationwide: from 2016 to 2022 it was 2 percent more. Berlin recorded the strongest increase with growth of 22.3 percent.

In addition, the understanding of the role of the clubs is changing. They therefore want to provide impetus for social and political change more often and are less oriented towards the interests of their members.

The study was carried out by Civil Society in Numbers (Ziviz), a subsidiary of the Stifterverband. In order to determine the club numbers, Ziviz read out the club register.
