Saxony-Anhalt: the number of new corona infections in Saxony-Anhalt has fallen

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The corona incidence in Saxony-Anhalt fell again within a week. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave a value of 205.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and seven days on Thursday. A week ago it was 232.2, two weeks ago 228.2. According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence nationwide was 254.3 on Thursday, compared to 239.6 in the previous week.

Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

The health authorities in Saxony-Anhalt have reported more than 941,600 infections to the RKI since the beginning of the pandemic, as the RKI dashboard showed on Thursday. 6101 deaths related to the coronavirus were recorded. Saxony-Anhalt has around 2.18 million inhabitants.
