Saxony-Anhalt: the number of participants in demonstrations on Monday is decreasing

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The demonstrations at the beginning of the week in numerous municipalities in Saxony-Anhalt are becoming less and less popular. According to the Ministry of the Interior, around 6,670 people took to the streets on Monday against high inflation, the Ukraine war and the federal government's energy policy. A ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday that there were a total of 41 meetings across the country. In the past week, the police counted around 7,800 demonstrators - with a decreasing trend.

"The police initiated three investigations across the country: for insult, attempted dangerous bodily harm and attempted damage to property," the spokeswoman said. There were also two misdemeanors. Otherwise, the events remained largely undisturbed.
