Saxony-Anhalt: the police are increasingly checking trucks and buses

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The state police in Saxony-Anhalt checked trucks and buses for a week from Monday. The aim of the cross-border controls is to increase road safety for all road users, according to the Ministry of the Interior in Magdeburg on Sunday. Among other things, the police want to check compliance with driving and rest times as well as the technical condition and loading of the trucks. Drivers should also receive tips on what to do if they are tired at the wheel, for example.

It is the third control action in passenger and freight traffic this year. According to the ministry, during the first week in February the police examined around 550 trucks more closely and found 180 violations. During the second focus check in June, 435 vehicles were checked and 185 violations were found.
