Saxony-Anhalt: Theater Magdeburg brings robots onto the stage

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - The robots Arka and Putzini have been part of the acting ensemble at the Magdeburg Theater since this season. On Friday they celebrate their stage debut with the play "Nessun Dorma". The theater announced the play as a love discourse for two robots. With a combination of acting, opera and intelligent technology, the theater is entering a new field of scenic experimentation. 17 actors and actresses stand next to the two technical actors on stage this season.

According to the information, the location of the action is an art gallery. The industrial robot Arka paints there to the sounds of well-known death arias. When the visitors have left the exhibition rooms in the evening, the robot Putzini, screwed together from everyday objects, moves around. Both meet and exchange ideas about art, love and betrayal, love and suffer together, as the theater's announcement says. Their relationship eventually breaks up, Putzini composes his own death aria and shuts himself down.

The Theater Magdeburg recommends the play for people aged twelve and over. After the premiere on Friday, four more performances of "Nessun Dorma" are planned until the end of October.
