Quedlinburg (dpa/sa) - Three people were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a car and a van in the Harz Mountains. A 49-year-old woman drove her car on the country road between Ditfurt and Wedderstedt near Quedlinburg into the oncoming lane and collided with the van, the police in Halberstadt said on Saturday. It was initially unknown why the woman suddenly changed lanes on Friday afternoon. According to the police, the two 66-year-old occupants of the van and the woman who caused the accident were taken to the hospital in Quedlinburg with serious injuries.

According to initial estimates, the damage to property amounts to more than 60,000 euros. An investigation into negligent bodily harm had been initiated against the 49-year-old, it said.
