Köthen (dpa/sa) - Catholic and Jewish graves have been damaged in the municipal cemetery in Köthen (Anhalt-Bitterfeld district) - now the police state security is investigating. Unknown perpetrators had primarily knocked over gravestones, police and public prosecutors said on Tuesday in Dessau-Roßlau. Four graves in the Catholic cemetery and 16 graves in the Jewish part of the cemetery were said to have been attacked. The damage to the very old graves is estimated at more than 10,000 euros.
The crimes are said to have been committed between early/mid-May and May 19th. It is determined for disturbing the peace of the dead and property damage. The police are looking for witnesses.
