Saxony-Anhalt: Unknown steal 2000 kilograms of copper cables from wind turbines

Erxleben (dpa/sa) - Unknown persons stole a total of 2000 kilograms of copper cables from two wind turbines. At the beginning of the week, the perpetrators climbed up to a height of 70 meters into the engine house, the police said on Monday. They then gradually disconnected the cables in the two systems in the Börde district. According to the police, there was property damage of around 51,000 euros. Because one of the cables was severed under load, this led to a short circuit. The perpetrators may have suffered burns.
