Saxony-Anhalt: Works by Herbert Lange can be seen in the Kulturhaus Leuna

Leuna (dpa/sa) - The gallery in the Leuna culture center is dedicating an exhibition to the work of the painter, draftsman and graphic artist Herbert Lange (1920-2001). After the vernissage for "Experiences don't happen, you have to look for them" on Thursday, the show can be seen until March 17th. Lange, who studied at the Burg Giebichenstein Academy of Art in Halle under Erwin Hahs and Gustav Weidanz, is said to have devoted himself primarily to nature studies and used various artistic design tools. The exhibition presents his life's work, it said.

According to the gallery, Lange worked as a freelance artist and was a co-founder of the artist group "Die Fähre". He had connections to Willi Sitte (1921-2013) and Karl-Erich Müller (1917-1998), among others. Most recently he worked as a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for Advertising and Design in Potsdam. He was also director of the restoration department and chief restorer of the Potsdam-Sanssouci State Palaces, it said. In retirement, he was also enthusiastic about local research and wrote books. Lange was born in Liebenfelde and died in Kleinmachnow.

The art gallery in the Kulturhaus Leuna has existed since 1998. It offers around 250 square meters of exhibition space. The gallery in the Saalekreis exhibits the works of regional artists, but also shows international contemporary art.
