Saxony: Autonomous shuttle bus is being tested in the north of Leipzig

Leipzig (dpa/sn) - In the north of Leipzig, an autonomous shuttle bus will be on the road with passengers for a test in the next few weeks. The electric bus is to drive between the Leipzig Trade Fair and the BMW factory, as announced by the Leipzig Transport Authority (LVB) on Wednesday. It will be available to order via the app. For safety, a driver should also be on the bus. The shuttle is also monitored by a control center.

The final development phase of the "Absolute" project will be initiated with the passenger test. A number of companies are working on the project. The aim is for the automated bus to be approved for use on the road. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics.
