Saxony: Because of a dispute: buses in the Vogtland district will be canceled from Friday

Auerbach (dpa / sn) - In the Vogtland district, almost all buses will be canceled from Friday. "There are still individual buses that drive, but that's only a marginal part," said a spokesman for the Vogtland Transport Association (VVV) of the German Press Agency. Affected by the failures are plus, interval, on-call, citizen, city and school buses.

Due to the short-term nature, no alternative connection can be created, it said. The association therefore asked passengers and parents to form carpools. The city bus in Plauen, cross-connection bus lines and also the railway and tram lines, on the other hand, said the spokesman.

The reason for the failure of the buses is a months-long dispute between the district and the bus bidding group (BG Bus), which operates the transport network. The Vogtland public transport association, to which the VVV belongs, has reclaimed deductions from 2021 in the higher six-digit range, said the spokesman. The BG Bus, on the other hand, submitted an extraordinary termination after an association meeting.

The aim of the negotiations was for the buses to continue rolling in the Vogtland, said District Administrator Thomas Hennig. "Wanting to shut down bus traffic almost overnight and thus carry out an alleged dissent on the backs of children or schoolchildren, but also of the Vogtland population as a whole, is highly irresponsible and incomprehensible," said the CDU politician, who is calling for regional bus traffic to be remunicipalised .
