Saxony: Cabinet passes new hospital law

Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxon cabinet has passed the draft of a new hospital law. "The Free State of Saxony should have efficient and well-networked hospital structures in which all citizens will continue to receive medical care in the future - and with high quality," said Minister of Health Petra Köpping (SPD) on Tuesday in Dresden. The new law provides the legal framework for this. The state parliament is to deal with this from September. The goal is for the law to come into force on January 1, 2023.

The current law is almost 30 years old. In view of the demographic development, the need for skilled workers and digitization, there was a need to amend it comprehensively. The law mainly contains regulations on hospital planning and financing.
