Leipzig (dpa / sn) - almost a year and a half ago, a driver in Leipzig crashed into a group of people and killed three of them - now the person who caused the accident should answer in court. Charges were brought against the 50-year-old driver at the time of the crime for intentionally endangering road traffic in combination with negligent homicide in three cases and negligent bodily harm at the Leipzig District Court, as the public prosecutor announced on Thursday.

In March 2021, a driver drove into a group of pedestrians at a traffic light near a tram stop and killed three of them. An 85-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man died at the scene of the accident, and a second woman (80) succumbed to her serious injuries a few hours later in a hospital. A 78-year-old suffered serious injuries and required intensive care treatment.
