Chemnitz (dpa / sn) - The building of the Chemnitz Galeria department store has a new owner. Listed real estate company DIC Asset announced Wednesday that it had divested itself of the property on December 30. The new owner is the Krieger Group in Schönefeld near Berlin. "It was agreed not to disclose the exact amount," the statement said about the purchase price.
The department store group Galeria is in financial difficulties and sought rescue again in protective shield proceedings at the end of October. According to earlier information, the branch network is to be reduced by at least a third. Therefore, the future of the department store in downtown Chemnitz is uncertain.
According to its own information, the Krieger Group operates a number of furniture stores, but also shopping centers such as the Elbepark in Dresden and the Chemnitz Center.
