Dresden (dpa / sn) - After a knife attack on a 39-year-old man, the Chemnitz police are investigating attempted manslaughter. The man was found in the Stadthallenpark on Sunday night with potentially life-threatening stab wounds, the Chemnitz police department said on Monday. He was taken to a hospital and is now out of danger, officials said. The alleged perpetrator was provisionally arrested that same night and was due to be brought before an investigating judge on Monday.
According to the information, the attack occurred on Sunday night. First, a witness had informed the police about an argument in front of a snack bar in the city center. When officers arrived, they could no longer locate anyone involved. Only later was the victim found.
The police officers tracked down the alleged perpetrator during another operation that same night. The 32-year-old man is said to have injured two guests in a restaurant and was arrested a little later. According to the police, he was covered in blood and carried a stabbing weapon with traces of blood. In addition, camera recordings were evaluated, which make him suspicious of the knife attack.
