Saxony: Chrupalla blames the federal government for the energy crisis

Löbau (dpa / sn) - AfD federal spokesman Tino Chrupalla blamed the federal government for the energy crisis. The AfD has been calling for a broad energy mix including nuclear power for years, he said on Saturday at a party conference of the Saxon AfD. Innovative nuclear power must be used permanently. "Russian gas also belongs to Germany".

"This government is harming Germany," said Chrupalla. The federal government's sanctions policy is like "Russian roulette without an opponent and with six balls in the barrel". The government must avert damage from the German people and ensure a diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he called for an end to the sanctions against Russia and the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) is now warning that gas deliveries from Russia could be stopped this month, said Chrupalla. However, it is not Russia who is to blame for this, but Habeck himself. The victims are now the citizens. In the end, the high energy prices would be passed on to citizens and the economy.

For the AfD it is about combining "serious policy with sharp opposition". Some citizens would not yet trust the party to take responsibility. But at some point the AfD will take responsibility. "Where do we want to govern first if not here in Saxony," says Chrupalla. In 2024 they want to replace the CDU in Saxony.
