Saxony: cigarette machines blown up - police suspect a group of perpetrators

Dresden (dpa / sn) - After the explosion of several cigarette machines in Dresden, the police are investigating. Since November, a total of 17 machines with fireworks that are not permitted in Germany have been blown up in the state capital, the police said on Friday. Six of them in the Leuben district. The police assume that groups of perpetrators are primarily responsible for the automatic demolitions.

On New Year's Eve, three young people aged 15 to 16 who were suspects were initially arrested by the police. It is currently unclear whether they are also responsible for further explosions.

According to the police, the explosions caused property damage between 3,000 and 5,000 euros per blast. The value of the stolen goods, on the other hand, is in the middle three-digit range. In addition, the explosions themselves posed a considerable risk. Parts of the machines were thrown up to 20 meters by the explosion, it was said.
