Zittau (dpa/sn) - About a year after the theft of granite paving at the train station in Zittau, the police caught the alleged thief. The background to the investigation is to be shown on Sunday in the MDR program "Kripo Live", as the federal police announced on Twitter on Saturday. The suspect is a 55-year-old man. He was arrested in Erfurt on December 20, as the federal police had already reported at the time.
The cobblestones were torn out at the Zittau freight station between December 16, 2021 and January 3, 2022. The paving stones had an area of 280 square meters. The federal police first gave the weight as 60 and later as much as 112 tons. The 55-year-old is said to have sold the loot. The total damage amounts to 45,000 euros.
