Saxony: Confirmation of infection in future also by antigen test

Dresden (dpa/sn) - In future, a professional antigen test in Saxony will be sufficient to confirm a corona infection. According to the Ministry of Health in Dresden on Thursday, a PCR test is still mandatory for proof of recovery, which remains free. This would mean that the quarantine and isolation rules for September 5 would be adapted to the current development of the pandemic and to the rules in other federal states.

For important reasons, a confirmation can also be dispensed with after a positive self-test, e.g. if a doctor writes off sick due to a suspected and diagnosed Covid-19, if the next test site is too far away or if the person concerned is physically restricted.

The duration of isolation for people who tested positive is still five days if there have been no symptoms in the last 48 hours. If the test is also positive afterwards, it is extended until you have been symptom-free for 48 hours - at most up to the tenth day. In the end, as before, no test evidence is required. Only people who work in nursing or medical care need a negative test certificate if they want to return to work within 10 days of the start of isolation.
