Frankenberg (dpa/sn) - In the struggle for a memorial to the former Sachsenburg concentration camp, the left-wing cultural politician Franz Sodan raises the alarm. Plans by the city of Frankenberg to demolish the dilapidated former commander's villa soon jeopardize federal and state subsidies and thus the memorial as a whole, said the state parliamentarian on Monday. The state government must take a position on the events as soon as possible. There has long been a dispute about the preservation of the villa. Remembrance initiatives had called for their structure to be made an important part of the future memorial site.
