Dresden (dpa/sn) - After almost three years, the Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance ends this Wednesday (March 1). "I am pleased that we are letting the Corona Protection Ordinance expire after almost three years and a total of 63 regulations and can thus take another important step towards normality," said Saxony's Health Minister Petra Köpping (SPD) on Tuesday in Dresden. This means that only the mask requirements specified in the Federal Infection Protection Act apply, for example in care facilities and hospitals as well as in medical practices.
State-specific corona rules - such as the obligation to isolate people infected with corona - have not existed since the beginning of February. In Saxony, only the nationwide uniform test requirements and a mask recommendation in public transport and in publicly accessible interiors where there is no minimum distance applied.
According to Köpping, the number of infections has developed positively in the past few months, as has the number of cases in the hospitals. "However, this must not hide the fact that it is still necessary to be prudent and to exercise caution, especially in sensitive areas or when dealing with vulnerable groups," warned the minister. She still recommends wearing a mask when things are tight. In addition, the SPD politician appealed to continue to make sure that other people are not infected if the test is positive.
