Saxony: Crafts Day calls for clarity on hardship rules

Dresden (dpa/sn) - In the discussion about high energy prices, the Saxon Crafts Day called for clarity on the planned hardship regulation for companies. Above all, clear criteria are needed for access to hardship aid, explained managing director Andreas Brzezinski on Wednesday in Dresden. Especially for energy-intensive craft businesses such as bakeries, textile cleaners, electroplaters, car workshops or paint shops, state bridging aid is indispensable in order to remain competitive on the market.

In principle, aid should also apply to craft companies, which are also exposed to high cost pressure when purchasing other energy sources, emphasized the managing director. This is likely to primarily affect small businesses in rural areas, which for lack of other energy sources often have to resort to heating oil, wood pellets or coal. Brzezinski hopes that the prime ministers' conference on Thursday will put the plans in concrete terms.
