Saxony: "Culture Chill-out" in Dresden brings the Czech Republic closer

Dresden/Prague (dpa/sn) - Relax and get to know the culture of the neighboring country: That is the goal of the two-day German-Czech "Culture Chill-Out" this weekend in Dresden. The musical program ranges from klezmer music by the Naches Trio to jazz by the Marek Novotny Quartet. The highlight is a performance by the cult rock band "Prazsky vyber" (Prague selection) by singer, former Czechoslovakian dissident and Vaclav Havel confidante Michael Kocab.

Visitors are also offered acrobatic performances, dance performances and theatrical performances. Children also get their money's worth, with the well-known puppets Spejbl and Hurvinek, among others. Things get more serious at a panel discussion about the invasion of Warsaw Pact troops into Czechoslovakia on August 21, 1968.

The program is organized in the so-called "Oasis of Imagination" by the German-Czech Future Fund in cooperation with the Dresden State Art Collections. The future fund was founded in 1997 with the aim of building bridges between Germans and Czechs. It is financed by the governments in Berlin and Prague.
