Dresden (dpa/sn) - In a state parliament debate on refugees, the Greens and the Left warned of unequal treatment of migrants. People from Afghanistan and Syria are also fleeing war and threats to life, said Petra Čagalj Sejdi (Greens) on Wednesday in the state parliament. In the spring, thousands of refugees from Ukraine were taken in and provided with day care and school places, clothing and furniture. But now the solidarity with other refugees has disappeared: "Why do we help the people from Ukraine without any ifs and buts, and mostly look the other way when the people come from Syria and Afghanistan?" It is frightening how the mood in Saxony has changed. Meanwhile, incendiary devices would fly again on accommodation.
Juliane Nagel (left) accused Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) that his "lamentation" about the high burden on local authorities caused by the accommodation of refugees was counterproductive and contributed to the mood. One can learn from taking in Ukrainians and dispense with the bureaucracy of refugees from other countries.
The CDU MP Ronny Wähner made it clear that the accommodation of refugees is not unlimited and that their care is a major challenge. Carsten Hütter (AfD) referred, among other things, to the high burden on the municipalities. There are no more financial options. Saxony's government should take care of border controls and deportations.
Interior Minister Schuster repeated earlier statements that the limit for taking in refugees has been reached in the metropolises in particular. If there were a second "wave" from Ukraine next winter, "it would be worth its weight in gold if the federal government didn't additionally burden us with voluntary admission programs" and implement the repatriation offensive agreed in the coalition agreement.
