Leipzig (dpa/sn) - During a so-called Monday demonstration against rising energy prices, among other things, counter-demonstrators in Leipzig set up a sit-in again. A police spokesman said in the evening that around a thousand people from both the demonstrators' camp and the counter-demonstrators were on the street. Counter-demonstrators blocked the demonstration at the Thomaskirche last Monday. However, the blockade of the counter-demonstrators could be circumvented, as the police spokesman said.
In addition, there were several smaller sit-ins, which either broke up after being spoken to by the police, but in some cases had to be broken up by the intervention of the emergency services. A few counter-demonstrators had also resisted the officials, it said. Supporters of right-wing groups repeatedly take part in the so-called Monday demonstrations.
